I never saw so many little flitty birds zooming in and out of the trees and scrubs.. not much bigger than a hummingbird, always in motion, jumping from one branch to another, one tree to another. Such pep... energy I could have used after attempting to photograph these tiny Golden-Crowned Kinglets. I felt as if I just finished a class of aerobics with some calestentics thrown in..all that twisting and turning, bending and reaching..but oh so worth it!! We were, again, visiting Magee Marsh in Ohio and were enjoying an early morning of clear skies and sunshine. Our first walk was through a heavily wooded area with lots of conifers and shrubs. I spotted this little guy first, as he stopped to preen a few feathers.. and then to give me a tsee, tsee.. tiny song... and at the last moment a little lift in his cap revealing that nice orange patch that is bordered in yellow and black!!! Yeah!
Wasn't it so nice that he posed for me? Such a cutie, and with such a friendly disposition.
The blue sky behind him really made him stand out...
..as for her, a little shy, maybe, as she only wanted to show me her back...can't tell you the number of pictures I have of her fanny..lol.. but back, front, top or bottom..these little Kinglets were wonderful to watch and admire!!

I've never seen that cute little bird, Tina... Don't know if we get those here or not.. Are you still stuck near Toledo???? I hope you can get home.
We've got SNOW today--just flurries but it's cold. DARN!!!! ha
Have a great day.
Let's hope for no damage here the next couple of days due to the upcoming freeze.
Hugs,
Betsy
Same family as our Goldcrest (smallest UK breeding bird) and you delightfully captured the crest Tina.
The Golden Crowned Kinglet is one of my absolute favorite birds. I spent the entire month of November watching them and trying to get good pictures. One time its wings fluttered against my jacket and it was awesome.
I have not seen them since November though. Enjoy them Tina. They are fantastic birdss!
Tha't great! I love those little birds and have a hard time getting photos of them. You did agood job with that-especially on the first one. Combining aerobics with photography and birding.Sounds like a productive day to me!
That sky looks beautiful and your birdy friends are cuties!
Tina: What a neat bird, I would have had trouble with the identity.
Come to Kent and I'll guarantee 50 Black Squirrels in any drive through. It is the most prevalent in the area.
Beautiful.
Those are great shots! I have seen a couple of them in the woods, but they flitted around so quickly, I could never get a photo.
Way to go Tina. Those are great shots!
Great shots!
I love those birdies..i have not yet tried to photograph them ..because my little point and shoot doesnt have a good zoom..and did you ever try to follow a small bird with a scope..well add putting a camera onto it a the right time...well..I havent been able to do it.
Tina, you have some great pictures of the Kinglets.Love the first one especially, with the raised cap.
Blessings,Ruth
You did such a good job of getting this flitty little fella and with his orange cap raised up too!! woo woo... Loved it.. And her backside is just as pretty. Go girl! Loved it..
What exciting shots of these Golden-crowned Kinglets! I've been happy just settling for tiny glimpses of these guys.
You have a bigger and maybe better selection of birds in your neighborhood than I do. The only changes I ever see in for two or three days each spring when migrating birds stop for a bite to eat and fly on their way. These are very nice photos.
Nice captures! Tough ones for sure!
Cute little birds! The fast ones are so hard to capture, but you did it nicely. :-)
That's wonderful Tina! Great shot of the crown!! I'm so far behind on my commenting...so much to do!
Great photos of these lovely and quick little birds.
Lovely that you got one with him singing his head off :-)
Never seen Golden Crowned Kinglet. Neat little bird. Nice capture.
