This morning I noticed these little guys foraging through the leaves that had blown underneath our yews! Several white-throated sparrows found their way to our backyard and were looking for their breakfast as we ate ours. It was nice to see them again as many had wintered with us last year. I know their breeding range is in Canada, and from what I've read, many choose to winter in the north eastern states.
I remember how nice it was, last winter, to look out and see these peppy little birds whose colorful eye patch of yellow would jump out like a snippet of sunshine!
I guess as much as I would like to hold on to these beautiful Fall days, for just a little longer, the arrival of these little sparrows helps me to accept that those winter winds that bring snowy days are not too far away!
