Finding those posed birds!!

I was out looking for something different, something I haven't seen before, something that was easy to take a picture of... A little Ruby-crowned Kinglet landed not far from where I was walking. I know for a fact that fast and furious is a good way to describe these little birds when they are hungry. zoom zoom zoom....

...and I've learned that you always collect a huge file of bird butt shots...even if you don't try to!

I saw Eastern Phoebes, who unlike the RC Kinglets, strike a nice perched pose ONCE in a while..

and this Osprey who is a local resident at our nearest lake...seeing him WAY up there perched on his throne..is always a real treat!!

but it was this couple who caught my eye, as I made my way home. I've been looking for a small little fountain that would compliment my rather small backyard during the warmer months. I knew the moment I saw it that this was what I was looking for..the forever permanently-posed bird!! Picture ready...
Now, how far away is Spring, I'm ready!! ;-)

Tina: Wonderful captures of the little birds. Sometimes they are so hard to find in the trees. I know what you mean about bird butts, they do pose in that direction.

The perfect fountain!

The Osprey is very regal.

YOu are right about those little kinglets -- zoom, zoom, zoom -- Perfect description ;-) I just LOVED that osprey with those gorgeous feathers coming in around the neck and chest - WOW! And the bird bath with posing birds will be just the ticket for some new photography ops! Great post, Tina!

Spring will come but in the meantime remember you can offer a heated bird fountain...the winter birds love it.. You've captured that 'zoom zoom zoom' bird pretty darn nicely, even if you did have to settle for one butt shot!! haha

Hi Tina,
I kind of know the feeling!!! Fast and furious, that's a good description, I love it! And the butt shot... Ah ah ah!! I'm not the only one...
But the osprey, gosh, even withe branches, I take it!!
This is a beautiful post which shows that birds pictures are not so easy! Well done!

Ahh Kinglets, same family as our Goldcrests and just as flighty I guess....always on the move.
So are we taking bets on who will be the first to join the lovely pair on the water feature?

Thanks for your comments on my pottery visit. Having divulged your past I can now understand your deep interest. The decoration was formed using a mould as you rightly guessed. Cheers Frank.

I loved your comment about collecting bird butt photos!

Nice osprey shot! And the Eastern phoebe too. I've yet to see a kinglet. Or an osprey for that matter, at least as far as I know. The far-off soaring birds of prey are hard to ID.

Great shots Tina, as usual.

Although you did a wonderful job with the birds in the wild, I think the fountain would look great in your backyard. Perhaps it will inspire others to pose for you as well.
