So much to learn...So much fun!

Am I addicted to this idea of birding or what? I find I have to head outside for at least some of my day. I was only out for about an hour, yesterday, as the wind chill factor, here, was in the mid 30s with a few rays of sun here and there.. but I'm so glad I did. I managed to catch two shots of this adorable little bird flitting among the branches located behind a blind at one of the local parks. I couldn't get that one clear shot that would show wing or tail markings. I definitely need to work on gaining more knowledge of how to use my camera's features so I have more control over the outcome of my photos. I not sure what kind of bird this is... maybe you do.
here, it is partially hidden behind a branch but one can see some of it's back and wing...
and since I'm throwing out... gosh, what is this bird ??'s... I took this over the weekend and haven't been successful in finding pictures that resemble this guy's belly colors! Darn branches, I did attempt to take a few more pictures but by the time I changed the settings...no bird!! just gotta laugh sometimes...but ya know, it's still a lot of fun!

I think the bird in the first two pix is a Ruby-crowned Kinglet.
The last bird I'm guessing is an Eastern Towhee but I've only ever seen a Towhee in a book. I love your idea of getting outside every day.

How fun - wish I was a better idenitifier - I don't think these birds visit me in Mich.

Lynne's right, I think. Ruby-Crowned Kinglets are hard to photograph as they are so small a flitty! You did great!

The Towhees are more easy-going. I'm sure that's him.

Tina, enjoy every day - it's a new adventure!

Hi Tina! Everyone is right on the ID's! The Eastern Towhee is one of my regular birds here at home. They say "Drink yer teeeeeee"! We just love them but are VERY hard to get a picture! Nice work!! If you think bird watching is fun wait until you get to learning their songs and calls! It's a whole other world out there when you can ID birds by song!!

Tina, I'm way too late to be of any help for you now, but the "What-bird-is-this?" game is always a fun one (as you and I well know)! I agree with everyone else, and I have a few towhee pics if you want to see them. :-)

Tina, I am Marie's husband. Thank you for your kind comments regarding my service to our Republic. My service means a lot to me and I keep it in a sacred place to visit whenever I want. Much has happened since we served there. I love your bird photos, I too am an amateur birder. I enjoy all wild life and I am fascinated by the ways they live and survive. To answer one of YOUR questions, I really love WWII aircraft, that was truly THE best time to be a raptor and hunt enemy aircraft. I read about it often and cannot get enough of it. It is what inspired me to become a Fighter Pilot. I sometimes play the online wargame dedicated to WWII aircraft combat. It is great fun, I have fought other "pilots" from around the world. I enjoy the challenge of a guns only encounter, lol. Thanks again for your kind thoughts. They do mean a lot to other veterans and me.

You are the patient one...to get such beautiful pictures.
I raised an extreme population of gold fish in my swimming pool(that is a whole story by itself). I brought them to the creek at the farm. Dad told me the blue heron would get them. I did not think it could catch such a large amount. However, as always, Dad was right. The heron patiently fished for them all. He took about three weeks to empty the creek of over a hundred various sized goldfish. Many were not gold and they had many places to hide. Good fishermen...birds!

would like to hear your thoughts..
