Ahh,.. 'tis the season...

This post could basically speak for itself... ( but I'm feeling wordy ;0....) 14+ inches of snow greeted us this morning. a familiar site as one looks outside....a neighbor clearing his sidewalk.
..even the pooch wants to get out in this weather...at 12 he still loves to romp and eat that snow!!
obviously, one of the reasons to go out was to feed the birds!! They seem to flutter onto the surrounding trees after I turn on the lights in the early morn...do they really know my routine that well...hmmm.. who has who conditioned??

a little junco...just waiting his turn...such a sweet bird...
I hear this nuthatch before I see him...
the titmouse giving me the glare..guess he didn't like his picture being taken...
..one of my super favs...love to hear them call to each other during these winter months. We are lucky to have a pair of Carolina Wrens visit us each day!
our over night guest..
my little red birdhouse refuge...and this downy has taken up residence in it....sleeping here overnight for the last several weeks..keeping warm during these snowy times...
..its a nice visit from ole man winter but upon coming in...there's such a nice greeting of these paper whites, which just opened the other day!!
...hmmm such a nice fresh smell..

Wonderful post and photos Tina! I'm convinced that the house finches know MY routine, LOL! When it's cold they're in the poplars out back, and I can barely hang the feeders before they're at them.

Hi Girlie, I figured you would get alot of that show from the storm this week. East TN and NC and VA got slammed--but we didn't get much here. I was hoping for some--just a little.. Oh Well!!!!

You really have to feed the birds this time of year. Neat that the Red-bellied has found a home where he can sleep and stay warm (sorta)...

I love our Carolina Wrens also.. And that Junco is such a cutie...

Have a good day and stay SAFE.
Hugs,
Betsy

Tina....I LOVE this post. 14+ inches of snow...absolutely beautiful. Love all your birds, which are no doubt very happy to be living in your backyard where there's lots of food!

Wow Tina,
This is a very nice post, although you are showing us that you do have snow! None over here, the frost came back but no single flakes! Very strange, that is gonna be one of the rare Christmas without snow since 2002!!!
I love your bird pictures a lot, one of the advantage of the snow is that many birds are easier to take pictures off!

Gosh, I can't remember when I last saw 14 inches of snow!!
The clarity of your visiting birds against the snow is super. FAB.

P.S. Not doing a lot except keeping warm indoors!

That alota snow! We would be at a stand sill here. Our county is not equipped for snow removal.

Beautiful shots as always. I want to see some you delete...that would make me feel better about my skills.

Merry Christmas and stay warm.

I had those paperwhites last year Tina! Love them! I'm glad I don't have to deal with that snow anymore! That was just common at my old home, so glad I can go out in a sweatshirt like I did today in the winter months! I love your feeders and am inspired to go spend money now!! hahaha

Your world looks like a winter wonderland after all that snow! I was glad to hear that your birds have you as well trained as our birds have us. Thanks for the great pictures.

Even blowing the snow out of the drive can be pretty,as long as I'm not the one doing it.Your birds are well taken care of and so good looking.
