Times are tough!

I love keeping an eye on our feeders early in the morning just so I can see 'who' might be visiting! Due to all the nasty weather that has come our way, finding food has been a difficult chore for all these little creatures.
I have been trying to put out a variety of foods to appease all feathered appetites..even dried meal worms (ouch $$$) and raisins as well as a mixture of other fruits, nuts and seeds. Recently we have had Northern Flickers and Robins eating our beef suet! Not your everyday sight!

..but as always, experience counts for eating this " twirling treat" and keeping one's balance at the same time! So much energy to get a few bites..but they keep coming back!
Hang in there!!

It's funny to see that they are really going for your seeds in your country cause here, they do not do that really even in hard times!!! Some do but not that often! You got nice pictures once again!

When the snow is on the ground and the birds and animals can't get their normal food they will eat about anything. Neat pictures of the Robin. Haven't seen one here yet! Have a great day Tina.

Fun post and a great series! It's always strange to see the Robins feeder where they don't normally feed! Ours have been pretty open to trying anything too!

You got some wonderful pictures of the robins at the suet feeder. During our bad weather we also had robins eating from feeders they never visited before, but now they've returned to the front yard.

Tina: That is an unusual capture of the Robin, I saw one last week in a tree but didn't get a photo. The deer empty the bird feeders every night.

Wonderful! The bottom in the valley has been covered with Robins pulling up worms. I am glad things are warming up alittle here. No snow!

Hi Tina, I posted a blog not long ago showing a Robin eating suet at my feeders also. It was during one of our snow storms---but he came back yesterday when there was NO snow on the ground. I think it has been a rough winter for all of our birds.

Hugs,
Betsy

I have never seen that before. We had a robin under our feeder eating seeds a few days ago and that's the first time I had ever seen that. You sure got some great shots....as usual.

That was a strange sight indeed. No robin here yet.

Hi Tina. Interesting to observe the acrobatics employed to get at the fat feeder. Our Robin flies up underneath, while still flapping, then pecks and picks any scraps off the ground. FAB.

That is so unusual to see a Robin eating suet! Great captures! He must've been very hungry as well as resourceful!

Interesting photos of the robin - I don't think I have ever seen one on any kind of feeder - also - loved your pics from corkscrew - a favorite spot, but the last time we were there was in late April and many of the "good" birds had left.
