Spinning and Sidetracked!

It's April 17th, high today in the 50s, showers, chilly winds...just like April should be, here in the NE...but wait, are those azaleas blooming already and are those bleeding hearts showing their lovely drooping teardrops?...as well as my tulips? But it's only the middle of April!! I've actually cut my grass three times already...not that I mind, I don't mind cutting grass...but what is going on??? Don't get me wrong I LOVE all this color, sun, high temps and showers but I do go to sleep at night adding to my thoughts and prayers, please, don't let a nasty freeze come along and kill all these gorgeous flowers, buds and little broods of birds trying to survive these fickle temps! It's only April!!

I am so far behind in my yard work. Things are blooming that usually don't bloom until after Mother's Day... I still need to plant these two Winterberry Holly bushes but I'm waiting for a tree service to clear out a dying old gum tree...and I thought I booked his service early??My pansies are going crazy with those 80 and 90 degrees we hit a few weeks ago...

even my plants I bring indoors, for the winter, are bursting forth with color and blooms...
Yikes, I thought by now I would have all my birdees I saw over the last year listed in my new bird journal...

...even my wonderful blues are still trying to make up their minds on which house to settle in..."the new one...oh, so much room... honey???"

or the old house on the other side of the lot...that weathered ole shanty. She seems to like this one but he keeps sitting on the new one???

I still have my woodpeckers cleaning me out of the remaining suet that is still hanging in the trees... big gobs of it in this Downy's bill. He's usually such a neat and tidy eater..?
and to add to the confusion of this gorgeous, early but wonderful Spring..I have flickers not only gobbling up the ants that are trying to find other means of housing in my still flooded back yard..but even he is attacking the suet?

Me, I'm still trying to finish up those indoor projects...like this fabric wall hanging of poppies..but that ole sun and those wonderful smells of hyacinths and Mother Nature who keeps calling to come out has kept me in a continuous spin of confusion. I think she is putting a spin on all of us these days, but as my better half says, not a bad problem to have, Tina! Yep, I guess he's right.. sooooo, what was I doing before I got sidetracked at this computer???

Hey Tina! I was enjoying each and every picture and everything you wrote about it and then I got to the bottom and saw your poppy wall hanging. That is GORGEOUS girl! I envy your talent. As Barb said, we here in the NE are experiencing similar early Spring explosions. Problem is..one day we have 80 degrees like yesterday and today woke up to 40 and windy! brrr Can't make up it's mind. It's already green and gorgeous and mowing has begun. My lilacs are filling the deck with scent and color at least 2 weeks earlier than last year. Nothing to do but enjoy!

Hi Tina.....what some great shots! I'll have to admit the bluebird is my favorite! However, I really like all of them.

HI Tina,
A very nice post, and I'm jealous about the flicker!! That's a plain awesome bird that I would like to see! You got beautiful pictures of it. The blue bird is also a real beauty that I learnt to love through many pictures on the blog...

Every thing is blooming together this year! It is beautiful to see but it's not right.

Your yard is wonderful, I wish mine were so well kept.

Hi Tina, It's great to hear from you. And what great pictures... IF you haven't seen my blog posts lately, you need to read them. Chickadees invaded the Bluebird nestbox... They've been fighting over the box--so I'm not sure who will win.

Love your Bluebirds... Funny how "HE" wants the new nestbox and "SHE" wants the old one.... Funny!!!!

We have had a gorgeous spring here ---but like you said, it has been summerlike instead of springlike. However, tonight we have a frost advisory out. We put all of our potted plants back in the garage...

Our Northern Flickers come to the suet feeder here also. I have some great pictures of them... You got some great pictures also.

Your wall hanging is gorgeous.. You are just so talented....

Have a great Sunday...
Hugs,
Betsy

Wow - you are so much further than we are - daffodils, but not much else around here - I'm ready! Send the migrants north, please.

I enjoyed looking at your beautiful spring flowers. :) That is one thing that I do miss since I moved to Sanibel. We have flowers blooming all year, which is nice. But, Spring is so beautiful up your way, when everything is coming up fresh and new. Thanks for sharing.

What a lovely, cheerful post! I just returned from Saint Louis where everything seemed to be in full bloom.

Your bluebirds indecision--how sweet to be able to observe.

And....another outstanding wallhanging. I haven't had time for much sewing the last year or so, but hope to get back at it soon.

Have a lovely day!

I love that poppy work Tina!!! Wow that is beautiful!
What a wonderful yard full of flowers. Well, things here are about right finally...still I think it was colder here than normal! I hoping you get no frost, I've got all my digits crossed. Wonderful bird photos....keep on trucking and then sit in the sun with some sweet tea and enjoy!!
